GIVE: Growing Inclusivity for Vibrant Engagement Schools » GIVE GIVE fills a workforce training gap in inclusive practices for all learners! In partnership with ArtsConnection and Community-Word Project, New Victory created GIVE, or “Growing Inclusivity for Vibrant Engagement,” which provides a framework for inclusive education and engagement. TeachWithGIVE.org is a set of over 60 free resources that support educators: Teaching Artists, Classroom Professionals, Arts Teachers, School Administrators, Community Artists and more! Launched in late 2021, GIVE supports building liberated learning environments and vibrant arts experiences for all learners. GIVE Framework: Considers how every student can be engaged and demonstrate their learning without stigma. Supports safe and supportive environments for all. Supports educators to effectively plan across students’ social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral capacities. Differentiates arts instruction in lesson design, facilitation, and implementation. Incorporates formative assessments supporting vibrant engagement, informed lesson design and student goal setting. Builds relationships with classroom professionals to co-develop programmatic goals and establish co-teaching partnerships and reflection structures. GIVE resources were developed by Teaching Artists in collaboration with Classroom Professionals, Disabled Artists and Advocates and other leaders in the field of arts education. Over 100 people have contributed to the GIVE resources. Impacting Educators for Systemic Change The GIVE site has been visited over 100,000 times and over 9,000 educators have been impacted by this work. The GIVE partnership team and trainers are comprised of experienced teaching artists, educators and arts administrators who facilitate training opportunities informed by the GIVE Guide with titles from “Intro to GIVE: Entry Points and Exploring the Guide” to “Toward Liberated Learning Environments: An Intersectional Approach to Classroom Behavior and Culture with GIVE.” The GIVE Team facilitates professional learning sessions in person or virtually, regardless of location. Contact us at: Admin@TeachWithGIVE.org Impact and Evaluation In 2021, a small group of Teaching Artists were trained in the first draft of GIVE practices and began utilizing the training while conducting arts education workshops in ICT or Inclusion Classrooms. Data from this training and instruction is now being analyzed for its efficacy by the renowned research firm WolfBrown. Preliminary research shows that Teaching Artists who received training in the GIVE resources improved in creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom more substantially than a control group of Teaching Artists working in similar environments. The goal of GIVE is to equip Teaching Artists and Classroom Professionals across the city and beyond with the most promising tools to gauge and respond flexibly and effectively to students’ varying needs and wide range of abilities.
