Get ready to shake your groove thing (yeah, yeah!) and discover that dance truly belongs to every single body. In this joy-filled workshop, led by New Victory Teaching Artist Sofiya Cheyenne Brown, you’ll dive into adaptive movement practices that invite everyone to express themselves through movement.
Through pure creative play and hands-on exploration, you’ll stretch beyond traditional definitions of dance, celebrating the diversity of human motion and the confidence that comes from moving authentically. Learn innovative approaches for building confidence, self-expression and turning your classroom into a place where authentic movement can thrive.
No dance background required… seriously! If you can breathe, you can move. If you can move, you can dance. And if you can dance, you can teach others to find their own unique rhythm.
Important note for Partners: This workshop is highly recommended for educators bringing their students to see No Excuses, No Limits at the New Victory Theater.
These professional development workshops provide a collaborative space for educators to work as artists, learn new art form techniques to bring to their students, and make connections to their classroom goals and units. Each workshop will highlight alignments to the Next Generation Learning Standards, Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, New York State Arts Standards and National Arts Standards.
All workshops take place in the lower lobby of the New Victory Theater, and eligible participants will receive up to two (2) CTLE credit hours per workshop.
