Education Season Ticketing Guidelines

Details on season ticket allowances, group sizes and canceling or adjusting reservations.

Grades served across the 2022-23 Education Season are K-12. In order to provide the safest possible experience for all, we cannot accommodate kids/students 4 years of age and under at the theater at this time.

Ticket Reservations

  • $2 Student and $5 Chaperone tickets for Education Performances are open to all New Victory Partner Schools. Ticket availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Partner Schools may book up to 165 tickets per education performance; this maximum includes teachers and chaperones at a 10:1 Student to Chaperone ratio. If your school policies necessitate more chaperones, you may request additional tickets, up to a 5:1 Student to Chaperone ratio.
  • The minimum group size allowed per education performance is 10 students and 1 chaperone.

Adjusting or Canceling Ticket Reservations

Ticket reservations to New Victory live performances must be canceled at least 10 business days (2 weeks) prior to the event date.

  • If student or chaperone counts change, the school must notify the New Victory Education Department no later than 10 business days prior to the event. Additional tickets are not guaranteed due to capacity limits.
  • For extenuating circumstances, we ask that last minute cancellations are made by 4pm the day before your scheduled performance date, or, by 7am the latest, on the day of your performance.
  • In the event that a school group must cancel their field trip, the Education Partnership team will try to reschedule them based on ticket availability and/or they can watch digital production video while available.
  • School Partners have access to digital performances of each 2022-23 season production. Streaming access is available for up to two weeks after the last performance in the run.

Seating Policy

New Victory Education staff carefully assign seats in advance of each performance.

Assigned Seating

In order to make your experience at the theater as efficient and safe as possible, you will not be issued tickets. New Victory Education staff carefully assign seats in advance of each performance, factoring in grade, group size and special circumstances. We are not able to honor specific seating requests with the exception of requests required for accessibility.

Seating Capacity

The capacity of the 499-seat New Victory Theater has been reduced to 90% capacity or 440 seats per performance for social distancing.

The theater levels will have multiple school groups. There will be at least 3 feet of distance between groups by way of an additional empty row (1) or the center aisle between school groups.

We ask that your group remain seated after the show. As soon as we are able to escort you to your bus or the subway, an usher will come to you.

If you have any questions, please contact the Education Department at: Education_Tickets@NewVictory.org.

Accessibility & Accommodations

Information on booking accessible performances and requesting in-theater accommodations.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Wheelchair seating must be requested in advance, at the time of the ticket reservation, and is subject to availability.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices are available for patrons with hearing loss or who are hard of hearing. Order at time of ticketing order or contact the Education Department in advance of the performance date.

Sign Interpretation and Audio Description

A sign-interpreted and/or audio-described education performance is available for each New Victory production. We suggest you reserve tickets to these performance dates for this service and indicate the need for it during your ticket order.

Sensory Friendly

New Victory Education offers sensory-friendly performances for certain shows. The sound will be adjusted to lower levels. House lights will be left at half. Extra staff on-site to support audience members as needed. Fidgets are available as needed at every New Victory performance. Please ask a staff member if you need one during your next visit.

Pre-Trip Planning

Things to know before you leave, like what to leave at school and what to do about lunch.

Arrival Time

Plan to arrive at the New Victory venue at least 30 – 45 minutes before curtain time. The building opens one hour prior to curtain (i.e. 10am for an 11am performance).

If you will be arriving by bus, ensure that your driver drops your group off on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Lunch

New Victory venues are not equipped to host lunch/snacks.

Bags

Bags are encouraged to be kept at school if possible.

Transportation Tips

Details on directions, bus drop-off and pick-up and parking.

According to the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE), yellow school buses are available for field trips during the school day.

We recommend you schedule and confirm school buses well in advance of your confirmed New Victory field trip date(s).

Buses

Drop off

If you will be arriving by bus, ensure that your driver drops your group off on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Turn onto 42nd Street from 7th Avenue so students can unload in front of the venue.

Parking

42nd Street is extremely congested and has a high volume of traffic. Per the New York City Department of Transportation, vehicles are not allowed to sit idle or park on the street without special permission.

Capture your bus driver’s cell phone and the school bus number. Once your bus is empty, it is important that the bus driver find parking at a nearby location.

Possible Locations:

  • 8th Avenue (both sides) between 38th and 39th Streets
  • 11th Avenue (both sides) between 39th and 40th Streets
Pick up

Taking Midtown traffic into consideration, bus drivers should leave their waiting location approximately 15 minutes prior to the return time given by the Front of House staff. Front of House staff will also help find a spot on 42nd Street to safely load your student group after the show has ended

Inclement Weather Policy

We must cancel a performance for ALL Education Partners if the New York City DOE decides to cancel school and/or cancel field trips due to inclement weather. If school is in session and public transportation is running, scheduled classroom workshops WILL take place. The Chancellor’s decision to close school or cancel field trips will be communicated to radio and television stations prior to 6am.

In the event of cancellation, updated information will be provided on the New Victory Hotline by 7am each day: 646.223.3090

We will work to reschedule your trip if the performance is canceled, but may not have the seating capacity to do so. Classroom workshops can also be rescheduled.
