Education Season Ticketing Guidelines

Details on season ticket allowances, group sizes and canceling or adjusting reservations.

Ticket Reservations

  • Tickets for Education Performances are open to all New Victory Partner Schools. Ticket availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Partner Schools may book up to 165 tickets per education performance; this maximum includes teachers and chaperones at a 10:1 Student to Chaperone ratio. If your school policies necessitate more chaperones, you may request additional tickets, up to a 5:1 Student to Chaperone ratio.
    • NOTE: Some performances for early education students take place in smaller performance spaces with smaller capacities and ticket maximums.
  • The minimum group size allowed per education performance is 10 students and 1 chaperone.

Adjusting or Canceling Ticket Reservations

Ticket reservations to New Victory performances must be canceled at least 10 business days (2 weeks) before the event date.

  • If student or chaperone counts change, the school must notify the New Victory Education Department 10 business days before the event. Additional tickets are not guaranteed due to capacity limits.
  • If a school group must cancel their field trip, the Education Partnership team will try to reschedule them based on ticket availability.
  • School Partners have access to some digital performances in the 2023-24 season production. Streaming access is available for a limited time.
  • There are no refunds issued for ticket cancellations.

Seating Policy

New Victory Education staff carefully assign seats in advance of each performance.

Assigned Seating

To make your experience at the theater as efficient and safe as possible, you will not be issued tickets. New Victory Education staff carefully assign seats before each performance, factoring in grade, group size and special circumstances. We cannot honor specific seating requests except for requests required for accessibility.

Seating Capacity

The capacity of the New Victory Theater is 499 seats. The theater levels will have multiple school groups.

Some performances for early education students take place in a smaller performance space with capacities ranging from 50-80 students.

We ask that your group remain seated after the show. As soon as we can escort you to your bus or the subway, an usher will come to you.

If you have any questions, please contact the Education Department at:

Accessibility & Accommodations

Information on booking accessible performances and requesting in-theater accommodations.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Wheelchair seating must be requested in advance, at the time of the ticket reservation, and is subject to availability.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices are available for patrons with hearing loss or who are hard of hearing. Order at the time of ticketing or contact the Education Department before the performance date.

Sign Interpretation and Audio Description

A sign-interpreted and audio-described education performance is available for each New Victory production on a specified date and time. Please reserve tickets to these performance dates if this service is required for your group and indicate its need during your ticket order. If you need either of these services but cannot attend on the audio-described or sign-interpreted date, please contact us.

Sensory Friendly

New Victory Education offers sensory-friendly performances for certain shows. The sound will be adjusted to lower levels. House lights will be left at half. Extra staff will be on-site to support audience members as needed. Fidgets are available as needed at every New Victory performance. Please ask a staff member if you need one during your next visit.

Pre-Trip Planning

Things to know before you leave, like what to leave at school and what to do about lunch.

Arrival Time

Plan to arrive at the New Victory venue at least 30 – 45 minutes before curtain time. The building opens one hour before curtain (i.e., 10am for an 11am performance).

If you are arriving by bus, ensure your driver drops your group off on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

New Victory venues are not equipped to host lunch/snacks. No eating is allowed in the theater or any New Victory lobbies.

Bags are encouraged to be kept at school if possible. If students bring bags to the theater, they must put them in a bin to be kept in the lobby during the show.

Transportation Tips

Details on directions, bus drop-off and pick-up and parking.

According to the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE), yellow school buses are available for field trips during the school day.

We recommend you schedule and confirm school buses well before your confirmed New Victory field trip date(s).

Drop off

If you are arriving by bus, ensure your driver drops your group off on the north side of 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Turn onto 42nd Street from 7th Avenue so students can unload in front of the venue. Please get your bus driver’s bus number and contact information in case you need to contact them at pick-up.

42nd Street is highly congested and has a high volume of traffic. Per the New York City Department of Transportation, vehicles cannot sit idle or park on the street without special permission.

Capture your bus driver’s cell phone and the school bus number. Once your bus is empty, the bus driver must find parking nearby.

Possible Locations:

  • 8th Avenue (both sides) between 38th and 39th Streets
  • 11th Avenue (both sides) between 39th and 40th Streets
Pick up

Taking Midtown traffic into consideration, bus drivers should leave their waiting location approximately 15 minutes prior to the return time given by the Front of House staff. Front of House staff will also help find a spot on 42nd Street to safely load your student group after the show has ended.

Inclement Weather Policy

What to do in the event of inclement weather.

We must cancel a performance for ALL Education Partners if the New York City DOE decides to cancel school and/or cancel field trips due to inclement weather. If school is in session and public transportation is running, scheduled classroom workshops WILL occur. The Chancellor’s decision to close school or cancel field trips will be communicated to radio and television stations before 6am.

In the event of cancellation, updated information will be provided on the New Victory Hotline by 7am each day: 646.223.3090

We will work to reschedule your trip if the performance is canceled, but we may not have the seating capacity to do so. Classroom workshops can also be rescheduled.
