Stories Home » News ยป What’s New at New 42 – December 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 What’s New at New 42 – December 2022 This December, the holiday season is especially joyous for us as we welcome back our friends from Ethiopia’s Circus Abyssinia and their new show, Tulu, to our New Victory Theater. It’s the second international company we’ve presented this year—something we weren’t able to do for the last two seasons due to the pandemic. The Korean sensation Cookin’ returned to our stage in October, and we were thrilled to have The Acting Company here in November with their reimagined versions of Romeo and Juliet and The Three Musketeers, performed in repertory. Bringing the best in theater, circus and more from around the world is part of the reason why the popular blog Mommy Poppins recently named The New Victory America’s #1 theater for children. Giving kids a chance to learn more about other cultures and to stimulate their imaginations are just two of the many ways we are making a real impact on young people’s lives. As we approach the end of the year and look back at all that has happened here in 2022, we are really grateful to you for being a part of it. I can’t wait to see you and your family at our theater for Tulu (now through Jan 1) or at another one of our shows in the new year. Happy holidays! For the first time in our 27-year history, we’ve put together a fun infographic to summarize all that happened here in our last fiscal year which ended on June 30, 2022. Tulu Tickets Make Great Holiday Gifts It’s not too late to give the best gift of the season: a gift card for the New Victory Theater, which The New York Times recently singled out as a “terrific kid-focused playhouse” in their Best Gifts guide for 2022. Or buy tickets for a specific show like the current Circus Abyssinia: Tulu, which Mommy Poppins just called “our must-watch show this season … Expect aerial acts, plenty of juggling and feats of athleticism worthy of an Olympic medal.” Get Inspired: New Victory’s Sofiya Cheyenne on “Teach with GIVE” GIVE (which stands for Growing Inclusivity for Vibrant Engagement) is a program we developed with partners ArtsConnection and Community-Word Project to build inclusive practices for students with disabilities within the arts across all sectors serving young people. Earlier this year, New Victory Teaching Artists got to dive into the GIVE Guide and its various resources for educators.
