What’s New at New 42 – October 2025

Welcome to New 42’s birthday season! In 1990, New 42 (then called The New 42nd Street) was founded to breathe new life into 42nd Street and its historic theaters, transforming the block into a vibrant and youthful theater district. The New Victory Theater opened five years later in 1995, followed by New 42 Studios in 2000.

This year we’re celebrating all of these milestones, and we started the year out with the silver anniversary of New 42 Studios with a starry luncheon for some of the actors, directors, choreographers, playwrights, composers and lyricists who have made New 42 Studios their home for incubating new work. Co-chaired by Jonathan Groff and Sarah Jessica Parker, the event was a unique opportunity to reflect on what it means to be part of a creative community and why rehearsal is what we call “the best part.” Here’s a glimpse of what it was like to be there.

It was a truly exciting way to launch a season of celebration. Read on for other ways that we’re achieving our mission of making extraordinary performing arts a vital part of everyone’s life from the earliest years onward. We’re so glad you’re part of it.

All the best,

NIE’s Snow White opens the New Victory birthday season November 1

There are a few companies who we love so much that they just keep getting invited back. Snow White will be NIE’s fifth show at the New Victory! You may have seen them before with Grand Soft Day (2024), Beauty and the Beast (2018), Museum of Memories (2016) and Past Half Remembered (2008). The artists of NIE devise work collaboratively and bring new, creative ideas to well-known works.

Help us share live performances with students

A new season of New Victory shows means a new season of School Partnerships! Over the upcoming school year, we will welcome 17,000+ students to see the performances on our stage. Our Partner Schools pay just $2 per ticket for students and get to work with our Teaching Artists, who bring live arts engagement into their classrooms with pre- and post-show workshops. Donations of any amount to Give a Kid a Seat help underwrite the cost of our arts education programs and, for our 30th Birthday Season, we will be decorating our birthday cake with one sticker for every donation we receive.
Join the Fun!
