What’s New at New 42 – August 2023

It’s summertime, and with New Victory Dance wrapped for a successful 10th season, we’re catching our collective breath and resting for a moment before we welcome you for new New Victory season, and the fall season of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows for rehearsals at New 42 Studios. In the meantime, you might catch New Victory Teaching Artists out and about providing family engagement activities and New Victory LabWorks Artists sharing their work with our partners at The High Line, Little Island, NYPL and The Pocantico Center.

I had the privilege of taking an incredible summer road trip to Washington, DC with Tiffany Gardner, Co-Vice Chair of the New 42 Board and a dear friend to our organization. New 42 was recognized along with New York State arts organizations Alvin Ailey, Reel Works and LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts at the 110th First Lady’s Luncheon at The Congressional Club Museum and Foundation. I was proud to represent New 42 and the incredible work my colleagues do bringing extraordinary performing arts to the youngest New Yorkers.

New 42 Announces Partnership with New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)

In 2022, we launched a program through which New 42 provides free New Victory show tickets to families living in NYCHA housing. We originally budgeted for 200 seats—but the demand was so great that we revised our efforts and in the end were able to provide more than 1,000 tickets to over 200 families in public housing last season. Our official announcement signals our commitment to growing this important program.
