Complicite from London, England
From the novels by Zizou Corder adapted by Marcelo dos Santos

In a dystopian near future, it is very hot. Phones are powered by the sun, cars are banned and there are companies more powerful than even countries. The biggest by far is the Corporacy.

When the Corporacy abducts his parents, resourceful Charlie Ashanti sets out to save them. Luckily, he's got a secret weapon: he can talk to cats. Adapted by the Olivier Award-winning theatrical innovators Complicite, LIONBOY is a smart and adventurous staging of Zizou Corder's bestselling trilogy. With inimitable visual virtuosity, Complicite's ensemble takes you on a cross-continental rescue mission involving no less than a floating circus, a hot air balloon, a pride of talking lions and one clever chameleon.

"Complicite's performers are the crème de la crème, energetic, charismatic and plain talented enough to command the audience's attention."
Time Out London
"Absolutely bursting with glorious energy and vitality ... a show that you can't take your eyes off."A Younger Theatre Complicite is "the reason I go to the theatre." Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

Getting to Know Complicite

The mention of "Complicite" evokes serious awe in any habitual theatergoer. The renowned British company, founded in 1983 by theater greats Simon McBurney, Annabel Arden and Marcello Magni, creates one-of-a-kind productions brought to life with powerful physicality and stunning visuals. The company prides itself on "seeing what is most alive," and "integrating text, music, image and action to create surprising, disruptive theater." Past productions (A Disappearing Number, Mnemonic, The Street of Crocodiles, to name a few) garnered critical acclaim alongside countless Olivier, Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations. What can you expect from their first work for kids and families? A perfect showcase of their knack for celebrating the unusual in an artful, elegant and incomparably innovative way!

Your Trip to Our Theaters

Just steps from the Times Square-42nd Street subway stops, The New Victory is a 499-seat, historic, jewel box theater restored to its original glory. The majority of our shows are presented here, in the oldest operating theater in New York City. Down in the lobby you'll find stroller parking, free lockers to store your stuff, healthy snacks and New Vic merch to take home.

Located inside the New 42nd Street Studios building, The Duke on 42nd Street is home to New Victory programming that requires a more intimate space.

Located just down the block from The New Victory Theater, the New 42nd Street Studios host New Vic shows geared towards our youngest audience members. The space allows for a variety of seating configurations, including options for floor seating, making it easy to move around and step out of the theater area if you and yours need to do so. Stroller parking and changing tables are available.
