Getting to Know Barely Methodical Troupe

Beren D'Amico, Louis Gift and Charlie Wheeler, the three performers from Barely Methodical Troupe, really are the best of friends. Inspired by their special bond, the trio created Bromance to celebrate male friendship through acrobatics. They first met through the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, a school dedicated to circus. Though Beren, Louis and Charlie all studied at the same school, each of them specialized in different fields. Beren kicked off his career with taekwondo, Charlie busted some moves with breakdancing and Louis ran circles around the competition with parkour and freerunning. They constantly push the boundaries of their performance by finding new ways to combine different skills into unique tricks and daring thrills.

Did You Know?

  • Beren's specialty, taekwondo, originated in Korea over 2,000 years ago. That makes it one of the world's oldest martial arts.
  • Breakdancing, where Charlie got his start, comes from right here in the United States, where it was created in the mid-1970s. With this high-energy street dancing style, dancers alternate between quick footwork, balancing on their upper body and acrobatic moves like spinning headstands.
  • Parkour transforms everything around you into an obstacle course. Athletes like Louis jump and climb over any obstacle in their path. Freerunning is a more acrobatic version of parkour.
  • The Barely Methodical Troupe uses only one acrobatic apparatus in the entire show: a Cyr wheel. That's a ring large enough for Beren, Louis or Charlie to fit inside while it spins.
  • The performers are already working on their next show, called Kin. This time, the trio has upped the ante by adding three more performers to the mix.
