NYCHA Resident Tickets

Inviting everyone to experience the magic of theater

At the New Victory, the arts belong to all of us. Come to this family theater in Times Square to experience stories from around the world! Our shows spotlight different art forms like puppetry, circus, musical theater, dance and more. They’re made to entertain all kinds of audiences from four-year-old kids to great-great grandparents!

There’s more fun off stage, too: Your ticket to a New Victory performance also includes access to free activities inspired by the show! Come early and stay late to enjoy these lobby activities guided by our staff. Our ushers are young New Yorkers who can’t wait to welcome you to our theater!

To connect more kids and families with our onstage productions and offstage activities, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) residents can reserve FREE tickets to shows.

Free tickets? What’s the catch?

No catch! We believe access to the performing arts is a right that starts from birth, so tickets are prepaid in full by New 42 and its partners.

The arts help kids—and adults!—tap into their imaginations, supporting social and emotional well-being. This initiative welcomes more New Yorkers to enjoy stellar New Victory performances, education and engagement programs.

Many kids know the New Victory from school-day field trips, since New Victory is the largest provider of performing arts for NYC schools. But whether or not your kid has attended a show before, now’s your chance to experience the fun as a family!

We’re thrilled to welcome more families to explore new worlds of art—completely free of charge! Sign up now.

All About the Program

Who’s eligible to join the program?

Everyone currently living in a New York City Housing Authority development is eligible! Ticket orders are tied to pre-registration though, so please do not share individual email messages or links on social media. However, you may invite anyone to come with you as your guest at a show, and feel free to tell other residents about this program—by sharing this page!

How do I know when tickets are available?

Throughout the season, we’ll send you emails when it’s time to book each show. Keep an eye on your inbox, and when tickets become available, use the links in that notification to get started.

How many free seats can I have? Do tickets run out?

Free tickets are first-come, first-served and are subject to availability—shows do often sell out. There is a limit of four free tickets per person per production.

If you want more than four tickets, or if all of the free tickets for a production are already gone, you can always order what you want at a special NYCHA resident price: 25% off, with tickets available for as little as $15 each. The discount will automatically apply when you follow the link from the email.

How do I reserve these tickets?

  1. When you receive the email notifying you that tickets to a certain show are available, act quickly! Free tickets are first-come, first-served.
  2. Make sure to use the buttons and links in the email—they connect you directly and automatically to your profile and the free tickets.
  3. Select your desired performance date and time, then choose up to four (4) seats. The price will change to $0 once the seats are added to your cart.
  4. Finish checkout!

After you order, you’ll receive an email confirmation of the details. Your tickets will arrive separately, a few hours ahead of the show.

“Plan Your Visit” using the information here—there are free activities (including some online ones), amenities and lots of ways to make the most out of your trip! You can also explore all of our accessibility services to ensure your needs are met.

What if I get tickets, but then can’t make the show?

If you realize you won’t use any or all of your reserved seats, please let us know via this web form, or call 646.223.3010. We can often pass the tickets along for someone else to use.

The staff are always professional and every show we attend is always outstanding. Thank you for the invite and we look forward to seeing more shows at this theater.

BONUS PROGRAM PERK: Free MetroCards!

Your trip to and from the theater is covered in your ticket order—one free, prepaid MetroCard for each person in your group. Each MetroCard includes fare for two rides and may be picked up while you are at the theater. Subject to availability, you can find them downstairs at the Accessibility Table (across from the bathrooms and lockers in the lower lobby).
