New Victory Arts Break videos are filmed at the New Victory Theater. We acknowledge that New Victory resides on the seized homeland of the Lenape people and the intertribal territory of many First Nations. We celebrate and pay deep respect to all Indigenous peoples, past, present and future, and we encourage you to learn more about these vibrant communities.

Did You Know?

Hailing from 17 countries across Europe, the artists of New International Encounter (NIE) believe that theater is an international language. Learn a few more things about the show and the artists behind it, and then watch the show trailer, which features interviews with the cast!

  • NIE’s Snow White is a reimagining of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Schneewittchen.” Where many of the Grimms’ fairy tales are a little, well… grim, NIE’s adaptation balances the dark moments with joy and silliness.
  • The collaborative devising process the artists of NIE used to create Snow White is reflected in the storytelling on stage—the seven performers play multiple roles (and musical instruments) to bring the story to life as an ensemble.
  • Based in England and Norway, NIE tours their work all over the world for as many as 200 days a year! They’ve performed in 36 countries across three continents, from New York to Shanghai, and this is their fifth time at the New Victory.

Try It Out!

Inspired by the truth-telling magic mirror in Snow White, play a game to see who is The Most of Them All! Have fun outdoing each other with over-the-top acting.

Siobhan and Rachel had a ball over-acting out different words from their book of fairy tales. Grab your favorite fairy tale and an opponent, and challenge each other to see who can bring a word to life the most.

  1. 1

Flip through your favorite fairy tale. When your opponent says “Stop!” point at the page and yell out the first word you see.

  2. 2

“Who is the ______est of them all?” You are! Be the biggest, best version of that word. Go as dramatic and exaggerated as you can.

  3. 3

Gather an audience to witness your battle of greatness, and ask them to declare which of you is The Most of Them All!

Keep playing! Take turns, flip through more pages or try different books. Push your acting skills to the limit, and have fun being silly with your family!

Talk About It!

As you make your way to the theater, get your kid in a Snow White mindset with some show-themed conversation starters! Ask them:

  • What does beauty mean to you? What makes someone beautiful?
  • Do you have a favorite fairy tale? What is your favorite adaptation of it and why?
  • If you had a magic mirror, what would you ask it?
  • How do you apologize to someone? And how do you forgive?
